Handling a message that is not yours

Help Me Respond works on your partner's message, and that is a different thing from a note you wrote yourself. It is private, it is often a screenshot of a whole thread, and it is someone else's words going into a prompt.

So the screenshot never leaves the phone. A custom native module wraps Apple Vision, reads the text on the device, and joins several screenshots into one thread. Only that text goes to the server, a small Express service on Fly.io, which holds every key so the app ships none. A server-side reader exists only as a fallback.

The responder then treats the text as untrusted input. It strips prompt delimiters before the message reaches the model, adds guardrails for conflict, and keeps a crisis safety net underneath. Endeared is a communication aid, not therapy.
